Before his academic life, he worked as a manufacturing engineer in a joint venture of KMWE-Dutch Aero in the Netherlands for three years. Dr. Gürgen has contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with major organizations such as Fiat Automotive Industry and Turkish Air Force. His projects were funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜB¿TAK) and European Union (EU). He has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences, and has co-authored a book and book chapters on aviation. He serves as an editorial member for different international journals. His primary area of research is materials science, in particular smart fluids and their applications in defense and aerospace applications.
Mehmet Alper Sofuölu, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He received his [...]., [...]. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Wollongong, Australia for a project on ultrasonic-assisted machining of aerospace materials. Dr. Sofuölu has worked as a researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eski¿ehir Osmangazi University for seven years. He contributed to several industrial and research projects in collaboration with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜB¿TAK), and has many publications in refereed international journals and conferences.
