Beschreibung
How do you end up adrift on the Pacific? And survive pirates? How do you accidentally cycle across a continent? Why didn't you listen to your mother when she taught you not to hitchhike?

Forced to watch all 64 games of the 2010 World Cup, ADEENA needs to up her interest levels and swears to flightlessly travel to whichever country wins. Surviving that much soccer seemed an unfathomable feat, but the journey that lay ahead was even more unprecedented!

First We Ate Your Wife is a harrowingly accurate account of an impromptu voyage from Australia to Spain (or thereabouts). Joined by an assortment of colourful characters and a giant teddy bear; it's an expedition into the absurd. A tale of shipwrecks, dog attacks and survival; spiced with love and other perilous endeavours.

In over a decade on the road, Adeena (also known as the "Bearfoot Gypsy") has filled more than her quota of travel "catastrophes". Beyond all expectations, she has endured them all and assembled the whole world into a single book.

"If giving up is not a choice, there is no point in looking back. As the basis of existence was shrinking on board, the collaboration between two souls became essential for survival. The journey I shared with Adeena was by far the most humbling and astonishing trip of my life. It was a crossfire of impediments and catastrophes but also magical wonders and love. I could not have wished to share it with anyone else than her." - Karl-Oskar Wicksell

Über den Autor
Born and raised, like most people, Adeena's journey began amidst the bustling streets of Johannesburg. In addition to mastering the art of breathing and walking (albeit occasionally in circles), she also conquered other essential life phenomena like swimming and math-which proved particularly useful for deciphering cryptic street signs and calculating the odds of missing her train by exactly two minutes. And while Johannesburg was way too far away from the ocean for her liking, it was the perfect springboard for her to dabble in a little bit of everythingCurious about the outside world, Adeena hesitantly agreed to join some friends on an adventure through Africa in 2007. What was initially intended as a three-month trip quickly transformed into an addiction-to both adrenaline and the word 'yes'. Consequently, Adeena found herself accidentally cycling across continents, hitchhiking across others, and allowing the whims of the wind to carry her around the world more than once. (Though, admittedly, the wind also had a knack for tossing her around quite a [...] unemployment has been a recurring theme in her life (seriously, who needs a time limit for adventure?), Adeena has tackled a plethora of random jobs in various countries, crafting a resume that's more eclectic than a thrift store bargain bin.Adeena's most notable accomplishments to date include not only surviving (a feat that deserves its own medal) but also mastering the fine art of making mistakes-often spectacularly. Currently attempting to plant some roots in Portugal (figuratively, of course), she's also delving into the world of Adventure Therapy, amongst other things. And while she's still undecided about what she wants to be if she grows up, one thing's for sure: being an "adult" is definitely not on the list of options. You can find out more about Adeena's [mis]adventures and life at [...]
