The Light We Lost mixes with a touch of Daisy Jones and the Six in this novel of first love, passion, and the power of choice-and how we cannot escape the people we are meant to be.
Two loves. Two choices. One chance to follow her dreams.
Emily has come a long way since she lost her two passions fifteen years ago: music, and Rob. She's a psychologist at NYU who helps troubled college students like the one she once was. Together with her caring doctor husband, Ezra, she has a beautiful life. They've never been happier and hope to start a family.
But when a tragic event in Emily's present too closely echoes her past, and parts of her story that she'd hoped never to share come to light, her perfect life is suddenly upturned. Then Emily hears a song on the radio about the woman who got away. The melody and voice are hauntingly familiar…Could it be? As Emily's past passions come roaring back into her life, she'll find herself asking: Who is she meant to be? Who is she meant to love?

Zusammenfassung
RETURN TO FORM: This new novel has shades of the "one that got away" storyline that brought readers to The Light We Lost in droves. The deep emotional authenticity in this novel is Jill Santopolo at her absolute best.
PERFECT FOR BOOK CLUBS: Even more than Santopolo's latest, this new novel has fantastic material for book clubs to dig into: what does it mean to be a mother, to miscarry? Are we the same people we were ten or fifteen years ago? Knowing what we know now, would we have made different choices in our past? Can anyone find a partnership that fulfills all of her needs?
BESTSELLING TRACK: Almost four years after publication, The Light We Lost continues to sell more than 1,000 copies a week and has sold more than 400,000 copies with steady sales in the paperback. While More Than Words did not have such outsized success, it has performed nicely. Readers are continuing to find Santopolo and this new book is the perfect opportunity to reach her larger audience.
GROWING BRAND NAME AUTHOR: Santopolo has settled into a book every other year rhythm and has found her voice as a brand name author with this new book. We have two books under contract and are excited to grow her brand as a "master of matters of the heart" (Taylor Jenkins Reid).
