20th Anniversary Edition of
A Hidden Wholeness
with NEW Postlude & Online Study Guide
A heartfelt examination of "the divided life"
and how to reclaim our "hidden wholeness"--
essential reading in our fragmented world.
Our divided world cannot heal if we do not heal our divided selves. This is the message of Parker J. Palmer's classic, A Hidden Wholeness. It's an urgent message as we seek to recover from the traumas of our times. Here, you'll find not only a keen diagnosis of our discontent. You'll also find hope in Palmer's practical call to community and a pathway to living "divided no more" with your integrity intact.
A Starred Review from Publishers Weekly
* Parker J. Palmer (The Courage to Teach) seeks to help us "rejoin soul and role," so that individuals and communities can be healed from the ravages of consumerism, injustice and violence. No small task, yet in classic Palmer style, this mission is fleshed out with stories, poems, personal confessions and a plan--concrete steps for creating "circles of trust" where honest, open sharing allows each person's "inner teacher" to show up...Never naïve, Palmer warns that these [circles] are not [problem-solving tools to be forced on people]. They are the opposite of quick fixes--places where we sit and wait for our souls to tell the truth. This book is a treasure--an inspiring, useful blueprint for building safe places where people can commit to "act in every situation in ways that honor the soul."
